Avatar 101

Avatar: an electronic image that represents and is manipulated by a computer user

Your Avatar, is the representation of you, completely under your control that users see when they play with or against you in any of the cafe.com games.  (Again, while in Beta, gold coins are free, so all the upgrades for the avatar are free as well!)

How the avatar looks, dresses, behaves and is situated is completely under your control.

Some people like an avatar that is roughly similar to them in real life, others drastically different.

Take some time and play around with different looks and locals.  Enjoy!

In the future, Cafe.com will go beyond the human world- and allow you to choose avatars of many walks of life!

New Version – 1.0.2.18

A new version of the Cafe.com software is available, labeled v1.0.2.18.

The most exciting change is the addition of three brand new avatar characters: Claire, Pierre and Ajax. Try them out, play with the cool or casual outfits and enjoy the original animations.

A lot of work has been done to fix bugs and improve the UI, and you will notice that the quality of cafe.com has improved.

This new version will be installed automatically when you start your cafe.com client. The automatic update system is activated starting with this version, meaning that upgrading will be much easier in the future.

Here is what to look for in this update:

** Content **
- New: new characters Claire, Pierre and Ajax
- Change: the list of avatar and game items is more logical
- Fix: avatar and game items have fancy titles

** Store **
- New: progress bar for item download
- New: alert for save failure
- New: open the web page when buying gold coins
- Fixed: bug in cart system
- Fixed: various UI issues
- Known Bug: Duplicates appear in the avatar shop, bringing the total to more than seven. A workaround is to close the application and delete the folder C:\Program Files\Cafe.com client application\Shopping.

** Client UI **
- Fixed: flashing screen bug
- Fixed: various UI issues
- Fixed: score update
- New: game level pop-up page in game frame
- Fixed: gold coin problems in store and lobby windows
- Fixed: pop-up web page when item store closes

** Ironsides Game **
- Change: better AI behavior
- Fixed: incorrect win and lose alerts
- Fixed: client freezing
- Fixed: incorrect display of items when joining a game
- Fixed: score bar error
- Fixed: various UI issues

**Swordfish**
- New: special visual effect for attacks
- New: added item functionality
- Fixed: various UI issues

** Other **
- Various fixes and improvements to the Cafe.com web site.
